OUTDOOR WEDDINGS Wedding Photographer based in Roseville, California

Curtis & Elizabeth were married outdoors on Strauss Island which is located at Elk Grove Park (in Elk Grove, California.) Below: Their family posed across the pond from Strauss Island. Posing note:  Whenever possible Doug poses clients with the sun BEHIND them to keep the sun out of their eyes.

Outdoor ceremonies can be real nice --- but you almost MUST have a microphone and public address amplifier set up. Otherwise your guests won't hear the minister speak beyond the first row of seats. At least not in urban areas; sometimes you can get away without a mic if the wedding is held in the boondocks. But it's a roll of the dice. Recommendations:  #1: If you hire a DJ, ask if he can provide a public address system for use during the ceremony. #2: Or talk with Doug (who by a strange coincidence, just happens to own professional wireless microhone equipment.)

The rich sky colors in the background came from photographing Steve & Stephanie's family portrait at sunset. Location: yacht on Lake Tahoe.

Doug's comment: The groom is an active sports kind of guy. He'd achieved a highly visible scrape on his forehead from a sports goof before the wedding. Using digital tools we removed the injury from this and many other portraits. However we deliberately left some photos in the natural condition, because the scrape was from a real event, and we didn't want to over-retouch the memories.
