Style of Photography...

Doug's style of photography

...is 75% photojournalistic
+ 25% classic.

Here's why:

We all know, a large number of spontaneous pictures are important to tell the story of your wedding day.

But -- Doug believes a small number of specific "formal" family poses should also be added. That's to capture the most important family members together in pictures.

Why is that important?

Weddings are sometimes the ONLY chance people have, to get family members together in a photo!

Today's trendy "photojournalism" style which uses two photographers can overlook that opportunity. Two photographers get so busy shooting candids, they end up duplicating each others' efforts. Then it's hard to get families organized to pose together.

Doug enjoys photographing weddings and records images you will treasure for generations.

Great example of a family "formal" group shot. Hilary and Zack photographed in lobby of church they were married at -- Grace Church in Rocklin, California. Above pic is the groom's sister's family which includes two recent adoptions. Groom's sister is married to the church's pastor (right end of the group) who also conducted the wedding ceremony.

Above: This goofy out-take was actually the photographer's lighting test before taking the "real" photo.

We hope the reader can see that professionally posed family group shots are very much worth doing!
Today's trendy, free-wheeling "photojournalistm" style of wedding photography sometimes misses the mark on these.
